Wow. Hard to believe it’s Easter again already. Time sure seems to fly by quickly in our modern, 21st century world. Living a simpler life is not necessarily easy in our post-Christian, postmodern era. Life is filled with busyness. The hustle and bustle of 21st century living whacks out our spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial well-being. We don’t feed our souls and minds with a daily dose of the Word. We don’t fuel our minds and bodies with proper regimens of diet and exercise. Our pocket books are stretched to the limit as the plastic in our pockets is maxed to the limit. Living a simpler life isn’t what our World adores or imitates.
As Christians, we aren’t called to be like the World. We’re called to be different as we live in it. It’s hard to do at first, but we each have to take stock. We begin with taking an inventory of our belongings. We’ve got to be willing to purge the junk from our lives and hold on to the things of value. Once we remove the clutter, we can focus on what really matters. Remember, you are God’s creation; His workmanship. We are His vessels; temples intended for His glory. A simpler life isn’t easy.
It is doable.
