Prayer and worship are gifts God has given us that allow us to grow in our relationship with Him. They go hand in hand. Prayer is a direct line of communication with God. God communicates with us in our prayer time with Him. When we pray, we share what’s on our heart and on our mind. We ask Him to work in our lives, to help us in our walk, and to provide us with what we need to do His will.
Prayer is a time of making requests and supplication. Prayer is a two-sided conversation. It involves talking and listening. As I’ve said before, God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. We should always strive to do more listening than talking. This is especially true in our relationship with God.
Exalt the LORD our God And worship at His footstool; Holy is He.
When we worship God, we are showing Him the reverence He alone deserves for what He has done and is doing in our lives. We come to God with a contrite and humble spirit, recognizing that He deserves our praise. The Lord delights in our praise. Worship demonstrates our love for the One who first loved us while we were yet unlovable.
Ascribe to the LORD, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in holy array.
Actively participating in prayer and worship are signs of a healthy, growing relationship with our Creator, the Lord Most High. Prayer and worship help us take full advantage of all that the Lord has to offer us and receive all that He desires to give us. He is for us, not against us. He delights in us. He, in the person of Jesus Christ, went to the cross for us. God gave us His beloved Son so that we could experience abundant life in His presence forever. This is what fuels our prayer and worship of Him.
May His peace go with you.
