31 Days of Praise | Day 1 In the Beginning

In our contemporary culture, we talk a lot about prayer and worship but not a lot about praise. We pray for rain, yet fail to praise God when He brings us the rain. And how exactly do you fully worship God without praising Him for what He has done, is doing, and continues to do? While visiting my Mom’s home church in East Texas, I ran across “31 Ways to Praise,” a handy bookmark developed by Bob Hostetler to help followers of Jesus utilize Scripture to praise God. So, starting in October, the month before the holiday season, I have decided to devote the next 31 days to focus on praise. I’ll rely in part on Bob Hostetler’s praise starters, hoping to build upon them.

God is praiseworthy because through Him all things that are made were made. He created everything from nothing.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1 (NIV)

God is the ultimate life-giver, who breathed life into us and the universe we inhabit. Because of that, we must sing praise to the Lord Almighty. He is the God of Wonders.

You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you. Nehemiah 9:6 (NIV)

As you go through your day today, remember to praise Him in all that you say and do. Reflect His greatness through your words and actions. Treat others with the love He showered upon you. Give grace and extend mercy. Be kind and generous. Be joyful, committing your work to the One who made you.

Blessings,

The Devotional Guy™
