Evening Prayer 9 | Faith Demonstrated

In Hebrews 11:4-7, we see faith demonstrated in the lives of Abel, Enoch, and Noah. Each of these men sought to live a life acceptable and pleasing to the Lord. Through their actions, all three men showed their love and revealed their heart for the Lord. Their love of God and their faith in Him informed their daily life. They exemplified a lifestyle of worship not limited to momentary routines but ingrained in every hour of their walk with the Lord.

The good news is that you and I are free to follow their example. We can allow our faith in our God Most High to inform how we live day-to-day. You and I can live a lifestyle of worship that is pleasing to the Lord. Not relying on our own merits, but depending on the Lord to supply us with all that we need to bring Him praise and glory.

4 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. 5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. 7 By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, show me how to live a life that pleases You. Let my words and deeds demonstrate my faith in You. Allow my confidence in You influence how I approach each day and every person I encounter. Father, as I end today, give me rest so that I can exemplify my faith in You tomorrow through all that I say and do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
